Barcelona confirm €15m signing of Manchester United target Thomas Vermaelen

Thomas Vermaelen has completed a €15m move to Barcelona on a five-year contract from Arsenal.

The 28-year-old was a Manchester United target and Arsene Wenger confirmed a bid from United but having moved to Barcelona, Louis van Gaal will have to look elsewhere for a new defensive signing.
Vermaelen is the sixth player to join Barcelona this summer after Ter Stegen, Rakitic, Bravo, Suarez and Mathieu.

Van Gaal has admitted United are in the market for defenders this summer after the departures of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand and Vermaelen’s move means United’s focus is elsewhere.

In New York, he recently shot a video for his song Mr. Oreo.

For the song which is named after the yummy cookie brand, Iyanya and his manger Ubi Franklin chose Brooklyn to interpret the unique vocals and rhythm of the song off The Evolution album.

His 2014 US Tour will round off in a few days. The music video which sees Iyanya serenading his leading lady and just being super sweet was directed by Mega Boi in an upscale apartment.

BREAKING NEWS!!! Ebola: 2 Dead, 20 Hospitalised after Excessive Consumption of Salt in Jos

 Salt is not the solution for the Ebola virus.

This Day Newspaper reports that at least two people are feared dead, while 20 others are hospitalised in various hospitals in Plateau State after consuming excessive quantity of salt and bitter kola to prevent Ebola Virus Disease .

According to the publication, the two who were rushed to the hospital by family members, collapsed in the morning after consuming too much salt over night.

They reportedly later died of high blood pressure in the hospital.

The medical personnel in the hospitals where other patients are currently taking treatment in Jos, developed ulcer, while others stool profusely, having consumed the table salt in excess.

BREAKING NEWS!!!! Ebola: 139 People are Under Surveillance in Lagos

At a press briefing on Friday in Lagos, the Minister of Health Prof. Chukwu Onyebuchi confirmed to reporters that there are two new cases of the Ebola infection in Lagos.

It now brings the number of cases recorded to nine. Onyebuchi also said that apart from the two fresh cases, there are also six suspected cases.

“The total number of cases, as of this morning, (Friday) stands at nine out of which eight are Nigerians and one American-Liberian.

Out of the nine confirmed cases, seven are alive and are receiving treatment In Lagos.” he said.

The health minister also noted that the death rate in Nigeria so far from the virus is between 30 to 26% percent, while it is 65% in other West African countries.

“I am saying this to enlighten people that having Ebola does not mean you have been condemned to death, survivors have been recorded.” he said.

He also confirmed that 139 individuals have been placed under surveillance.
